Our last drop of the 2024 collection.

MEASUREMENTS

Please take note of measurements carefully. Due to the nature of our micro production, imited edition availability of our apparel and the fact our alpacas are shorn only ONCE a year, we are currently only making garments in ONE SIZE. However, the nature of alpaca fibre means it is naturally supple and will stretch to shape. Different shapes and sizes have been considered in the design process. We do have a returns and exchange policy and are happy to clarify any sizing queries you may have prior to purchase.

Model is 5ft 7inches tall and wears a dress size 10. If you require any further clarification on sizing, please email hello@herdalpacaapparel.co.uk

Disclaimer on all Herd Alpaca Apparel:

  • Alpaca fleece is not uniform in texture or colour. It can vary from animal to animal and even within the same animal's fleece. This is why you may see slight colour differences throughout the garment. Herd’s products are completely natural and never dyed.

Care Instructions

Caring for your alpaca apparel is essential to ensure it remains in good condition and retains its softness and warmth. Alpaca fleece is known for its luxurious qualities, but it requires some special care compared to other fibres. We will always include care instructions with every purchase and you can always email us hello@herdalpacaapparel.co.uk if you need any further assistance.

Here are some tips on how to care for your alpaca garment:

  • Read this Care Sheet: It contains specific care instructions. Different blends and finishes may have slightly different requirements. We will always include care instructions with every purchase.
  • Hand Washing: Hand washing is the best method for cleaning alpaca apparel. Use cold or lukewarm water and a mild detergent specifically designed for wool or delicate. Never use harsh detergents or bleach.
  • Gentle Agitation: Gently agitate the water to clean the garment without causing excessive friction. Do not rub or wring, as this can cause stretching and damage.
  • Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the garment in cool water until all the detergent is washed out. You may need to repeat this step a few times to ensure there is no residue left.
  • Squeeze Out Excess Water: Press the water out of the garment by gently squeezing it. Do not twist or wring the fabric.
  • Lay Flat to Dry: Lay the garment flat on a clean towel to dry. Reshape it to its original dimensions, taking care not to stretch it. Avoid hanging alpaca products as this can cause them to stretch out of shape. Use a low or steam setting on your iron.
  • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Never dry your alpaca apparel in direct sunlight or near a direct heat source, as this can cause it to become brittle and lose its softness.
  • Use a Mesh Bag: If you choose to wash your alpaca garment in a washing machine, place it in a mesh laundry bag to protect it from abrasion and tangling with other items. Use the gentle cycle with cold water and a wool or delicate detergent. Be sure to remove it promptly after the cycle finishes.
  • Storage: Store your alpaca apparel in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. To prevent moths, you can use mothballs or cedar blocks in your storage area.
  • Avoid Heavy Use: Alpaca fleece is delicate, so avoid wearing your garment in situations where it might encounter excessive friction or snagging.
  • Pilling: Alpaca garments may develop small balls of fibre (pills) on the surface over time. You can remove these pills with a fabric shaver or a sweater comb.
  • Shedding: Due to the natural fibre of alpaca fleece, there may be some shedding. This is completely normal and will decrease over time with regular wear.
  • Professional Cleaning: If your alpaca garment is heavily soiled or stained, it is best to seek professional dry cleaning services to avoid damage.

about

Meet The Alpaca Behind The Product

The British Alpaca Society recognise 22 official alpaca fibre colours and patterns. Our herd are a real beautiful, unique mixture of them all! We will never dye our fleeces as this creates two benefits – a reduction in environmental impact and a longevity of the colours. We shear once a year and work with our partner mill to blend new colourways with the fleece we harvest. Furthermore, we will never be able to recreate the exact same colourways year on year due to the increase of variety of animals in the herd.

Our alpacas enjoy the tranquillity of their surroundings in the New Forest, Hampshire, with their welfare as our foremost concern.

Any sales will be used to directly support the care and sustainability of our herd.
